Feminine hygiene is such an important thing and with the right products you can prevent odours, itching and discomfort in your intimate areas.
So, how many products in your bathroom are specifically formulated for your intimate area? If the answer is “none,” it’s probably because you’ve found that there isn’t much of a choice available, especially when it comes to shopping for feminine hygiene products. Another reason you’ve answered is “none” is probably because it is a topic that is still seen as a taboo, and buying such products may seem embarrassing. Fear not, because we were lucky enough to be given some samples from an upcoming and distinguished company called SASS.Will these intimate products make us embrace the ‘je ne sais quoi’ that SASS promises? Let’s see how we got on…
Products: SASS Intimate Purifying Cleanser/ SASS Intimate Soothe & Smooth Shave Gel/ SASS Sportive Intimate Recovery Serum/ SASS Sportive Intimate Protection Barrier Cream
Price: £7 – £16
Where: Boots | SASS.
SASS is company dedicated to women. If you look at their website, it’s clear that they want to lift the stigma attached to buying intimate care products, while also meeting the needs of the modern-day woman. They have a daily range and a sportive range, aimed towards women who want to give it their all when they exercise. Sass believe the modern-day woman “has the right to feel confident”, “in control” and we couldn’t agree anymore.
Taking care of your intimate parts shouldn’t be seen as something shameful, and these areas deserve to be cleaned just as much as the rest of our body. Using soaps and shower gels may seem like an easy option, but such choices can disrupt the natural PH balance. Sass claims their list of ingredients not only help promote good bacteria, while neutralising any unwanted odours, but they also promise their products don’t interfere with your PH balance and actually help “maintain [your intimate areas] harmony.”
SASS products generally contain:
Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/ VP Copolymer, Sodium Benzoate, Lactic Acid, Citronellyl Methylcrotonate, Potassium Sorbate, Parfum (Fragrance) , Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Menthol, Menthyl Lactate
These ingredients are dermatologically tested, gynaecologist approved and have been tested by SASS sisters. These products are also safe to use during menstruation and pregnancy. All the products except for the SASS Intimate Refreshing Mist and SASS Intimate Dryness Gel come in one size, which is 100ML, while the other two come in 30ML bottles.
I am really impressed by Sass’s packaging and design. Unlike other popular brands which scream out “I am deodorising my intimate parts,” Sass differently chooses a sleek and subtle design, to make women feel less embarrassed about buying such products. This means that lurkers around you won’t be so quick to assume that there is something wrong with you and your intimate parts. If I hadn’t known what these products were for, I would have assumed they were either a new high-end perfume brand or a new range of expensive skin care products.
This can be used daily in the shower or bath and rinsed off as normally. When I first smelled it, I was impressed by its aloe vera like subtle scent. In the past I have used other brands and have not liked their overpowering sickly sweet smell. This product left me feeling refreshed and I would certainly use it more during the time of the month.
I often rely on my partner’s shaving cream when it comes to it tending the lady garden, but this gel is my new holy grail. The gel is clear and it does not foam up like most shaving products. The gel left me feeling so smooth and I can certainly see a difference between using a man’s shaving cream and using this product. If you worry about ingrown hairs or razor burn, this product also helps with that!
This cream should be applied before intense exercise, as it is supposed reduce skin friction and provide hydration. I have to be honest, I never knew such a product existed! Before I went to a Zumba class I used some of this cream and didn’t feel so uncomfortable or worried about my intimate area. The cream has a thin consistency and applies easily to the skin without leaving any residue.
This product should be used after an intense exercise session. It has a stronger scent and works to make the area feel more refreshed. Sass are said to be one of the first companies to have a product like this, which makes it really special. I also like the fact this serum provides antimicrobial protection.
I love the discreet, subtle and classy packaging with the words SASS written all over it, it’s really empowering. The products are a little bit pricey and I wouldn’t buy them all in one go. Though I loved the Sportive range of the SASS products, I wasn’t quite sure how to use them at first, so I had to do some research online to check if I was using the products correctly. But, I would certainly buy and recommend the Intimate Purifying Cleanser, because it can be easily incorporated into a daily shower routine.
