3 Easy Steps to Flawless Skin

Demi Lovato’s skin so *amazing*, @ddlovato.

A flawless complexion is one of the key ways to look your best, but when the colder months draw near, maintaining such a complexion can seem impossible. This is because your skin is exposed to colder temperatures, which makes it more susceptible to dryness and irritation. If you’re looking for a way to achieve healthy and radiant skin throughout these months you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to help you put together a skincare routine which isn’t complicated, expensive or time-consuming. With just five minutes of pampering in the morning and at night, you can easily achieve healthy, radiant and flawless skin…

Step 1: Find Out Your Skin Type.

If you don’t already know your skin type, now is a good time to find out. Knowing what products work with your skin type, how they benefit it, and the order in which to use them is very important when putting together a skincare routine.  So make sure you read the labels on products and only buy them when they mention your skin type.

Step 2: Buy The Products You’ll Need.

For a basic skincare routine we recommend you buy: a cleanser, facial scrub,  moisturizer (day and night) and a toner and an (optional) eye cream, for optimum results.

  1. A cleanser like Neutrogena’s Visibly Clear Grapefruit Wash – is great for removing any dirt or build-up that catches unto the skin
  2. A facial scrub like St. Ives Invigorating Scrub – works to remove dead skin cells and minimize pores
  3. A toner like Freedom’s Gylcolic Glow Tonic –  this glow-giver  brightens, tones and conditions your skin
  4. A moisturizer like Superdrug’s Vitamin E for the day/night – helps your skin retain moisture and keep your skin hydrated (make sure your moisturizer contains SPF!)
  5. An eye cream like Nip and Fab’s Dark Circle Fix – to reduce the appearance of dark circles/wrinkle

If you prefer using natural DIY products, you can try using an array of oils like coconut, almond and olive oil to replace our suggested items. For example, you can use coconut oil as both a cleanser and moisturizer (just remember to apply SPF seperately). You can use apple cider vingegar as a toner. You can also make a sugar scrub for your face and use a cold pressed sweet almond oil as an eye cream.

Step 3: Commit To Your Routine.

The toughest part about a skincare routine is actually following it. Just like a diet you claim to start on Monday, your enthusiasm to get out of bed and do something fizzles away. If you find yourself stuck in this position, set an alarm (or ten) with reminders. But,once you get used to regularly cleansing, moisturizing and scrubbing your skin will be flawless and healthy, and there will be a visible improvement in its tone and texture.

We’ve put together a simple, step-by-step routine below as a guideline for all the beginners out there:

  • Cleanser
  • Facial Scrub
  • Day Moisturizer with sunscreen
  • Eye Cream (Optional)

*You don’t have to scrub your skin everyday –  twice or three times a week is enough.

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Night Moisturizer
  • Eye Cream (Optional)
