“I’m not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look” – Kylie Jenner
These were just a few words tweeted by Kylie Jenner last night (April 21st) as she responded to the bizzare #KylieJennerChallenge that took over social media on Sunday night. Unless you’ve been living on a dessert island with no technology for the past few days, then we’re pretty sure that you’ve heard about it.
As we previously discussed, teenagers across the globe have attempted to imitate the reality TV stars trendy fuller looking pout by sucking on a shot glass or plastic bottle, but it all went horribly wrong.
The results we’re disturbing with many girls ending up with swelling and bruising on their lips and around the mouth. Despite the amount of young girls that tried the Kylie Jenner challenge, it doesn’t seem like it’s a “beauty trick” that they would rush to do in a hurry again. The results were most definitely undesirable and made many girls look ridiculous. We’re happy that Kylie Jenner encouraged this to stop.
Kylie Jenner has previously stated in an interview with Grazia Daily that she has never been under a knife. It has also been reported elsewhere that it takes her 40 minutes to do her lips every day.
With that being said, if you want to try a makeup technique to get Kylie’s lips then check out our Kylie Jenner lip tutorial.

Sucking on a shot glass or any other device should not be tried at home. Cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Gary Goldenberg has stated that this technique is “like getting hit in the mouth”, causing trauma and inflammation, which in turn yields bigger lips.
Many girls have shown their #KylieJennerChallenge gone wrong photos across social media, and unless you want to resemble these teens for a good few days, weeks or even months (because swelled lips don’t go away in a day), we suggest that you listen to us when we say it’s not worth it.
