The #KylieJennerChallenge Gone Wrong

The #KylieJennerLipChallenge hashtag took over Twitter on Sunday night and judging from the photos, it’s all gone horribly wrong for many.

Over the past two years Kylie Jenner’s lips have become a beauty trend in itself. Ever since the reality TV star was pictured with a fuller pout, teenage girls have been finding ways to achieve the look. Last year it was all about the makeup, with some claiming that Kylie’s lips were down to great makeup techniques rather than Surgery. Well it seems that the desire for the pout has failed to calm down, and last night on Twitter, the #KylieJennerChallenge became a worldwide trend, with many disturbing photos starting to circulate soon after.

What Is The #KylieJennerChallenge? It’s when you take a small device like a shot glass or bottle, and suck in the air for 5 minutes or until you start to feel pain. When you remove the device, you reveal your Kylie Jenner inspired lips.

Photos and video footage of the challenge started to circulate on Twitter and Instagram, showing users results from doing the challenge. Let’s just say it didn’t exactly go to plan.

This bizzare method has caused an outburst of criticism, with one user tweeting “Congratulation on the dumbest trend of all time”.

Doing this challenge can cause serious swelling and bruising, as well as lead to lack of sensation and infection. Cosmetic surgeon Pordiis Kjartansdottir has strongly warned people against trying the DIY trick. ‘I can definitely say that this would be dangerous even just to try it, and especially somebody does it more than once’.

Our conclusion? Please don’t try this stunt at home, it’s not worth it and let’s be real – it doesn’t exactly look desirable. If you desperately desire a fuller pout, try out our ‘Kylie Jenner lips tutorial‘.

  1. I find this situation to be just severely sad. Sad that people would do this to themselves to emulate her. I would be very upset if my daughter did this to herself. Glad to see someone called out the negative for this trend!
