Hey beautiful ladies! So on Friday 10th April I went to the #SLBloggerBash event and I just wanted to let you guys know that I had a really great time. It was kind of a last minute thing. I received an email from Scarlett London on Thursday night and only happened to pick it up on the Friday morning. It was an invite to a bloggers event taking place near Tottenham Court Road.
This was my second event (with the first one being a disaster) and so it was really refreshing to see what an event is suppose to be like. Here are my highlights of the day.
Tuscany Wine has a great wine tasting competition, which was probably my favourite thing to do at the event. They had 5 different wines and 5 descriptions. The game was to taste each wine and guess whether you could match the taste of the wine to the description on paper. If you got 4/5 or 5/5 correct, then you would be entered into their prize draw to win some lovely bottles of wine. Since I’m not a massive fan on wine it didn’t bother me if I didn’t win; it was just a fun thing to try.
Along side Tuscany Wine, there were various other competitions and giveaways going on, including a selfie competition from Quiz Clothing, a bloggers bake-off, a raffle-draw and an amazing bowling game (can’t remember the name). From these competitions, people won Yankee candles, Urban Outfit gifts, sweets, lotions and even a camera
On the day I met some really lovely bloggers. I never knew anyone before getting there and in fact I don’t think it crossed my mind that I was actually going alone. I did however, start to mingle and came across a great bunch of ladies. Half way through the event I recognised a young lady that looked like Hayley from The Glasgow Girl. I wasn’t sure at first and didn’t want to embarrass myself, but up close and personal I realised it was her and decided to introduce myself and get a picture. I think it’s really nice when you’re reading a blog and you feel like you know that person, so to actually meet them face to face is amazing. I must admit it can be quite scary once you’re at the event and see everyone talking in their groups, but the good thing about blogger meet-ups is that we all have a common interest, and many people in those groups have only just met each other, so getting involved isn’t difficult.
So one good thing about blogger events is that you can receive some really nice gifts. I didn’t enter all of the competitions at the event because many brands wanted you to Instagram or tweet a photo, which I didn’t really want to do. I did however, like everyone else, recieve a takeaway goody bag made up of little things from the sponsor – The Search Laboratory. I gave a lot of it away to my friends as I don’t really use these products, but I did try the Green & Black’s Organic Chocolates and they are to die for. I would definitely buy them again if I see them out while I’m shopping. On the gifting side of things, I must say I never go to events for the gifts, but instead for the pure goal of mingling with like-minded people who enjoy and understand the journey of blogging.
If you live in the UK and haven’t been to a bloggers event yet then I would definitely recommend that you check out Scarlett London. The reviews from her events are always amazing and in September she’s hosting a ‘Bloggers Festival‘, which sounds awesome. I spoke to a few people at the event who had attended last year and had nothing but positive things to say.
